As part of our Well Built Community Fund programme, we recently called out to groups, schools and charities inviting those that would like to receive £1,000 to spend updating a kitchen or bathroom area to get in contact.

All the entries have been whittled down to the final three and it's now down to the public to decide who receives the donation.

Cadeleigh Village Hall

The village hall is at the heart of the community and its team regularly cooks up Sunday roasts for the villagers as well as organising events such as a harvest festival tea. The team also caters for local weddings and funerals. If chosen as the Community Fund winner, it will be updating its kitchen equipment and area to ensure it can continue to feed the local community.

Petroc Supported Learning

Petroc Supported Learning works with young people with additional needs. Currently, it has 223 students who enjoy a variety of programmes which develop skills to support a more independent life, and many progress into employment and voluntary positions in the local area. The department has a kitchen which students use to improve skills but, due to its age, it's in desperate need of refurbishment. If voted as the Community Fund winner, Petroc Supported Learning will use the donation to renovate the space.

Wellington Community Centre

Wellington Community Centre was built in 1908 for the benefit of the people in the local area. It's used for a wide variety of activities, such as a baby and toddler group, yoga, pensioner group and art. The community centre is also regularly used by local people for parties, but the kitchen area needs to be renovated, which the group will do if voted as the Community Fund winner.

The public can vote for the finalist they would like to receive the £1,000 by one of three ways:

  • By visiting RGB's Tiverton, Barnstaple or Wellington branches and placing a chip in the relevant box
  • By visiting RGB's Facebook page and choosing who they would like to vote for on the poll that will be at the top of the page when voting goes live
  • By emailing RGB@pmwcom.co.uk and putting the name of the group they would like to win in the subject box

Votes can be cast between Monday 18th November and 8am on Monday 2nd December. Votes cast outside of these dates will not be counted and can only be made at a branch during normal opening hours. Only one vote per person via one method of voting will be counted.

We wish all three finalists the very best of luck.
